Here's a thought, if the posse plays it really well and some guy takes the
sacrifice, let him come back harrowed. Think of it as reward for being
willing to take one for the team. I don't remember there being anything
saying that the guy they kill CAN'T come back harrowed.
I know it should normally take days to come back, but they're in space,
the Unity is charged with hunting ground energies, they're 1/2 in the
hunting grounds already, <insert your own justification here>.
So instead the player dies, the rest of the posse moves on (you tell the
posse that you're going to let the dead player in on a secret, pull him
aside and tell him the secret, he's harrowed now). Then as they get into
the fight with the sykers, Tom-the-guy-we-just-shot comes back. You could
even play Tom yourself at first and make the posse think you're just an
evil bastard and brought their murdered friend back so they'd have to kill
him again. All kinds of RP-ing opportunities open up from there.
