There
really isn't anything that wrong about it. Then again, it's quick and simple,
and I'm a sucker for quick and simple systems (take a D20, add your bonus,
  high is good, 'nuff said).<<
It's not so much that I dislike the D20 system, as much as that it loses
the flavor of the game.  It's like reading. a book that was translated
from English into Ancient Egyption and then back into English.  Granted
that Fred's a great translator, but something still gets lost in
  the translation.

>>I'd be willing to say that one of the few problems with HoE is
the fact that you need every piece of gaming periphernailia possible in order
to play. A 30$ book, plus at least 15$ worth of dice (for 5 of each kind plus
a D20), plus two poker decks plus a parcel of poker chips...<<
  As opposed to a $25 D20 book.  Plus a couple of $25-$30 AD&D books
(Player's Guide & DM's Guide for the Marshalls).
