I touched on it on a previous post, but I'll elaborate here.
Star Wars d20 uses Force Points; every character class has them. You
get one at first level and one every additional level (and I believe
Force-Sensitive characters get an additional one - can't remember).
The gamemaster can allow you to gain additional ones through heroic
acts (or Dark Side points for un-heroic acts). A character can use
their Force Point to gain a bonus to any die roll (to hit, saving
throws, etc.) anywhere from 1d6 to 4d6 (dependent on character level
and whether you are calling on the Light Side or Dark Side of the
Force).
Bringing the topic back to Deadlands, I can totally see this as a Fate
Chip thing. Just replace 'Force Points' with 'Fate Chips' and you have
the exact same sort of dramatic system for having characters do
dramatic actions.
