Ah.  I hadn't bothered to look at the hindrance.  I had thought it dropped
the two stats down a level.  In that case, then no, they shouldn't increase
once bought off.  My stand is you were being short-changed by lowering the
stats by one level, so essentially, you're not getting a freebie--you're
just getting back what you had to begin with.
