Random boot sizes (was RE: [HOE] Newbie)

In the USA, a wildly random way of picking boot sizes could be 8 + (d12
/ 2), which would yield a size of 8 1/2 to 14.  Quite a range for men's
shoe sizes, so instead you could use a d10 for 8.5 to 13, or d8 for 8.5
to 12.  For women's shoe sizes, you'd need to start at maybe 4 or 5 and
use a d6.  And don't round the division -- you need the half sizes.

Shoe sizes in the rest of the world are done differently, but you could
probably make some thing up.

Just a quick thought.
