Thanks for all the ideas.
I cleared the unknown character concept change with
the player so that issue is taken care of.

As far as the state of the indians in Hoe.
Spirit Warriors seems to say they made it through the
bombs in fairly good shape as they weren't
concentrated in cities and nobody wanted to waste
bombs on tents. 
A large number of indians where killed fighting or
being slaughtered by the reckoners as various ones
passed through there territory (particularly war if
i'm not mistaken).

The only reason i could see for his character not to
know what a harrowed is, is that he doesn't have any
occult knowledge skills.
He has a high rituals so knows how to get power from
or appease nature spirits but has no occult knowledge
so he doesn't know much about the hunting grounds(he
doesn't have any favors that would get him there
either), or supernatural happenings in genenral.

I know i can only carry on the charade for so long
he'll get hurt soon enough in a combat, and at least
know somethings up when his blood is all gloopy and he
doesn't heal until he eats some meat.
So it would depend more on if i go for mystery or
bloody horror. I need to get more of a feel for what
type of adventure they would like to do before i
decide.

mystery being the doppleganger idea or something
similar.

bloody horror being -why isn't this wound healing!!
(assuming they haven't eatin meat lately) or i just
got shot in the heart , guts are hanging out but i'm
still alive whats going on.


so i guess my next questions are.
1: Are harrowed common knowledge(or at least common
knowledge/myths to indians) by the time of the hoe
setting.

2: Would a rituals skill encompass alot of occult
knowledge or is it just centered on cause and effect.
(keep in mind his character is a warrior not a camp
wise man)

3: Would his guardian spirit outright tell him he has
a manitou in him.
   -I figure this would be up to the GM, i'll probably
go with cryptic statements or feelings along the lines
of "you carry a great evil" but make it seem like its
talking about his bloodthirsty flaw or something along
those lines.

4: Does the kind of meat a harrowed eats matter for
healing purposes, can it be cooked or does it have to
be raw.
