ditto. Implementing an alternate notation such as David
suggests would be non-trivial...
collect the list of spaces desired... and attempt to find the
one piece/orientation that "matches" it... if any...and then
use that.
Yes... just yesterday, I made a notation error early in a game.
la vie. official notation stands.
(that said... David, if you want to attempt to wedge that other
notation into the cathedral.cpp code... feel free to try)
