How about a good old fashioned random number
generator:

"The sky opens up and a beam of light illuminates
Player X.  The crowd takes this as a sign and
immediately descends on Player Y."

Or it would be entertaining if we gave the players who
tied a chance to send one message to the rest of the
group explaining why they should be spared prior to a
tie-breaking vote!
