Broadcast from dshort via PBM Server

Announcing the first SCRAMBLE tournament on the PBM server!

I am organizing a single elimination tournament of SCRAMBLE
(aka scrabble) on the server. It will be open to the first
32 players to enter. If you would like to enter the scramble
tournament, please send an email to DavidNYJfan@hotmail.com
and be sure to let me know your PBM userid. It doesn't matter
whether you have played Scramble before on the server, new
players are also eligible to enter. Make sure you familiarize
yourself with the rules of Scramble on its rules page linked
to the PBM server's front page at http://www.gamerz.net/pbmserv

Once I have received 32 entries, I will rank the players from
1 to 32, ranking the established players above provisional
players, and unrated players at the bottom in alphabetical order.

The first round pairings are 1 vs. 32, 2 vs. 31, 3 vs. 30,
2 vs. 29 etc. In the event of a tie game, the players must
immediately play a second game. If the second game is also
tied, the LOWER ranked player will advance to the next round.

After each round we will re-seed. For instance, if the top 3
players all lose their first round games and the highest ranked
player to advance was previously ranked # 4, that player becomes
the new # 1 ranked player. The pairings for the second round
are 1 vs. 16, 2 vs. 15, 3 vs. 14 etc.

We continue this way all the way down until we are left with
2 players, who will then play a best 2-out-of-3 match for the
championship!

There are no prizes in this tournament! We just play for pride
and fun. I will announce the results of this tournament in
a subsequent broadcast when we have finished.

PLEASE NOTE that I am going to have to insist that this
tournament move at a fairly decent pace. I expect that all
players will complete at least one turn every 7 days.
A completed turn either means playing a word, exchanging at
least one tile, or passing (exchanging 0 tiles). If your
opponent has not moved in over 7 days, please forward a copy
of the last email which shows when you last completed your
last move to me. I will email your opponent and ask him to
move within 72 hours. A first time complaint against an opponent
will merit a warning. A second such time complaint in the same
game will result in an immediate forfeiture.

Once I have a full field of 32 players, I will send in the
challenge commands to PBM myself, and I will send out an email
carbon copied to all of the players in the tournament
announcing the field, the current ratings of all of the participants
and the first round pairings. I will also send out an email after
the completion of each round showing the results from the
previous round and the pairings for the next round.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL WHO ENTER!!
