Re: [PyrNet-L] Duplicate kennel name

In a message dated 98-03-04 15:36:12 EST, you write:

<< The only way to
assure that you are the only person using a specific kennel name is to
register it with the AKC. >>

Good point Adrianne and even then the AKC does little to stop infractions on
use a name. It is confusing thought, especially with those who compile data
bases etc. Names are so important. It can be terribly confusing for example
out kennel name since about 1973 has been Aneto. Several years later we
discovered there was a English breeder that was actually active for several
years while we were breeding using the same name. To this day people say they
saw our dogs in English stock. Pyr Haven is another. There was an old West
Coast Kennel with the name. There is a contemporary one in Wisconsin that has
now been around about 30 years and to make things worse there is an English
one as well.

So a Adrianne has so gently suggested it is to your advantage to choose a
kennel name, that as you have success breeding or whatever, you will not get
confused. Remember the average stay of people in Pure Bred dogs is something
like 5 years. So every 5 years everyone, essentially is new, and did not know
you before, etc.
