IMHO - I feel that the Illustrated Standard is an excellent tool to show
what a Pyr should not look like.

However, to say that it muddied confuses me? If you look closely on page 11
you will see that the "muzzle slopes up slightly from tip of the nose to the
point at which it joins the top of the backskull. There is, therefore,
apoint betwen the eyes where the two planes come together a minor but not
overly apparent change of slope (stop). The change is gradual, soft and
smooth. There should be no abrupt, sharp angle caused by the two planes
not meeting evenly. the is to understanding this phrase is the word
"apparent. While there is a point of joining it is so subtle as not be
apparent."

Again, just my humble opinion - but I can see it in the illustration. I
hate to see the Illustration get trashed - yes it may need improvement but I
think it is a wonderful tool as to what one should stay clear of.
Unfortunately, I see pyrs who look like Newf's & Saints win all the time
(they move like them too!) so more education needs to be taking up with the
Judges. And that's another post...................
