Re: [PyrNet-L] Re: Biiting

In a message dated 98-06-13 10:48:15 EDT, you write:

<< My son crawled up to the dog as
she was lying in a corner and she snapped at his head, made contact, and he
required stitches. I knew this was reaction not an attack and promised
myself that with my supervision it would not happen again >>
<<I
immediately had my beloved pet euthanized>>

You are a strong person and you were (are) so correct. Our dogs cannot be
biting our children. The inately correct Great Pyrenees will not bit
children. In fact the Pyr will always befriend the smallest animals available
to them. Something in the breed. I think it important to destingush between
grousing or fussing at something and a actual teeth on skin and skin torn type
resonse. These are totally different type responses and not related one bit.

I wish you the best of luck with your Pyr and hope that your Pyr never lets
you down in this area. I have a lot faith in our breed, it is the breeders
that have me concerned, so sometimes I wonder about some of our dogs out
there.
