Re: [PyrNet-L] Re: Correcting Slobbering

Kathy, I know I've written before on this subject, but I have seen one of
these operations done, and the owners were NOT satisfied afterwards. Perhaps
the techniques have changed in the past few years, but from what I have seen,
the rear of the lips are scraped and sewn together, eventually healing
together and forming a smaller, more forward mouth opening. (goodbye PYR
"smile")

The drool continues to be produced, but instead of sliming out the sides of
the mouth, it all pools out the front. The owners I've met who had this done
were really unhappy with the surgery and the discomfort their dog endured
during the healing weeks. And I worry about the dog's ability to fully open
her mouth and really pant when she's hot.

Anyway, I just wanted you to know. Heidi and Chewbear sound like wonderful
dogs!
