The young ones are microchipped and tattoo'd.  Older ones just 
tattoo'd.  Microchip didn't hurt and it gives another way to get them 
back and identify them if something ever does happen.  

Interesting story at http://www.frenchbulldog.org/ruby/ of dog that 
got identified from a microchip 17 months after being stolen.  Has a 
link to microchipping information also.
