Linda, that was our vet's advice also, 5 years ago--Paddington weighed in
at 21# at 8 weeks! We did choose a lower fat and protein puppy food and
transitioned him to adult food at about 5-6 months. In retrospect, it was
great advice, because he turned out to have patellar luxation--we were
glad we'd kept the weight off while he was doing his major growing.
