[PyrNet-L] CHAT: Having a Pyr's good for the heart! Chap. 2!

Hi all!
Well, have been taking care of the business associated with the death of a
loved one since my brother died of cancer Thursday night. Called relatives &
made arrangements with funeral home and then worked for half a day, too
Friday. After work I met with my hubby who brought Albert, my pyr, and also my
friend Nancy and her daughter Laura and Albert's sister Heidi, another pyr! We
went to the local Huff 'N' Puff wooded trail and let the dogs play a while and
then settled down to the business of walking the dogs on a beautiful wooded
trail. They walked very well together. (We had invisioned them wrestling and
getting all tangled up all the way!!) We had a really good time!! It started
to rain and eventually pour, but we were having such a great time together
that we all decided to just keep walking, even though we were without rain
gear! (Actually the rain felt great as we've been without it for so long!!) It
was just what I needed!! (Washingtonians go through withdrawal if they go
without rain for long!!)
Monday on our normal evening walk along our rural road Albert stopped once
more for his macho stare-off with one of the neighbourhood bulls. Everytime we
go by with Albert the bull comes close to fence and stares at Albert and
Albert sits down in the road and stares right back!! This lasts for at least 5
minutes!! (This is the same bull that charged us the time Albert pulled me
down in the ditch and through the cow poop until I had it up my shins!! The
incentive for me to get the No-Pull Harness!!) The expressions on their faces
during this stare-off just crack us up! They are so intense and all the macho
posturing!)
Today we were working on our construction project (my workshop!) and Albert
was supervising. One warning here: Be careful to keep treated wood scraps away
from your pets. Albert thinks every piece of wood that ends up on the ground
is put there especially for him to chew and lug around. So we are making sure
to put the treated wood scraps way out of the reach of Albert when he's on his
cable tie-out there supervising. (They are full of all kinds of nasty stuff!!
Not to be near where you eat!)
We're finding out lots of other stuff to keep out of his reach, too:
hammers, pruning shears, rakes, gloves, tape measures, levels, vapor barriers,
you-name-it!!! (Nails we were already careful with!)
We cut down a number of tiny trees and brush for the site and made piles of
them. Burn ban on , so can't burn yet. I swear Albert thinks his job is to
chew them up! And of course he never takes a branch from top of pile - oh,
no....he has to pull it from the bottom of the pile.... the-better-to-spread-
the-pile-around!!! And the ones he doesn't chew he is very conscientious about
shaking soundly!! My hubby is fast learning that he's been wasting a lot of
energy. Hubby was standing all the floor joists on their sides in the exact
place he wanted to nail them. Then Albert would come to inspect his progress
and stand up with his paws up on the floor joists and of course they would
fall over!! (since they were not nailed yet) So since this one was obviously
not meeting with Albert's expectations...Albert would decide to test the other
ones to see if they were in the same shabbily unattached condition!!! And on &
on & on some more!!! Knocking over one after another!! Such a big helper!!!
The amazing part is we let him and just kind of got a kick out of him!! The
disappointed look he'd give my hubby each time was priceless!! Like he really
expected better from my hubby. <g> One time Albert decided to move a 3/4 "
thick sheet of plywood!!! He was dragging it along by himself!! One strong
dog!! I keep waiting for him to start moving the utility trailer loaded with 2
X 4 lumber that he is tied to while he's supervising!!
Having a Pyr does make life more interesting!!!

:) & :)```` (me grinning, even through the rough times, & Albert grinning
& drooling!)
