[PyrNet-L] Lyme Vaccine

Shirley,

I live in a heavily wooded are of NJ, an area with more than its
share of deer ticks. After a discussion with my vet (holistic)
we elected to give Cajun the vaccine. My vet considered the
vaccine safe (especially since Cajun is young and healthy) and
effective. For us it was worth the risk.

What little knowledge I have of Lyme is that it is difficult
to diagnose, very painful, and can be debilitating, and if
not diagnosed and treated, fatal. And, like rabies, is spread
by vectors we don't control. And it is spreading.

According to my vet the ticks actually live on the ground, in
areas of moisture and dense ground cover. In looking at our
back yard and the surrounding areas, we felt pretty sure
we were harboring these ticks. We elected to err on the
side of caution, and therefore used the vaccine.

I hope this helps. And thanks for sharing the web site and
the photos of your Pyrs. I love to see this wonderful breed
appreciated for its versatility in the service of their
human companions.
