forward it to the Pyr lists and to the Dog-Rescue list.
If you know of anyone who has lost a Pyr in the Illinois area, please have
them contact Sandra (her email address is in her post below). Also, could

Subject: Help, please, I have found one
Hello. I don't kow if you can help me, but figure it's worth a try. Last
Saturday a Great Pyrenees puppy about 6-9 months old wondered into our yard
after the police had been called (someone thought the natural slobber was
"foaming at the mouth".) We've taken him in and are having a dickens of a
time trying to find his owner. I've called all the local police stations,
animal control, Humane Society, groomers (he smelled faintly of of a recent
shampoo) and vets plus a local animal rescue association and placed an ad
in the paper and had the vet check for tatoos and chips. So far, no one
has called to claim him or reported one missing. The vet estimated he'd
been on the run for a couple weeks (he's very skinny -- ribs and vertibrae
easily felt) so we're wondering if perhaps he was stolen and got away, or
was lost by a family traveling. He has a collar but no tags, though they
could have come off during his travels.
Is there anyway to put a cross-country notice out to the various local
chapters of clubs to try and find his owner? We've about exhausted local
avenues.
We're in O'Fallon, IL, a small town about 20 miles east of St. Louis, MO.
Any help you can give will be appreciated. He's a very sweet, loving dog,
but clearly misses his people.
In the meantime, is there anything special we should know about caring for
him? We have huskies, but haven't had one of these before. I'm hesitant
to bring him in the house because of our dogs (1 full male, 1 spayed
female) though he seems well-behaved. And how much should he be fed?
Thank you for your time and advice.
Sincerely,
Sandra Morrese
