Re: [Fwd: [PyrNet-L] Adding to my life]

Hi Tom,
Welcome to Pyrnet-l. Sounds like you will be a wonderful Pyr owner...I
am sure there are many of us who wish we could take our dogs to work!
That decision on pup or rescue is a difficult one! If you see yourself
"playing" with your Pyr a pup would be better...adults are usually too
"above it all" to lower themselves to playing.

I have to agree with Faye and Lisa that having ads in magazines etc does
not necessarily mean that the breeder is not reputable. I would suggest
that you look up the Pyrnet web site at http:www.gamerz.net/pyrnet/ and
look under the clubs section for the Pyrnean Fanciers of the NE. There
are several breeders in that club and they also do Pyr rescue. Also read
all the GPCA information about the breed. The GPCA Code of Ethics
spells out guidelines for breeders (i.e. breeding stock should be
cleared for hip dysplasia, written contracts, etc) but this gives you
good questions to ask. Talk to as many people as you can and see as may
Pyrs as you can. If buying a pup, you are also buying the help and
expertise of the breeder, and you want to purchase your pup from a
person you know will be able to help you with any questions or problems
you may have for the life time of your pup.

Good luck, let us know how your search goes.
