Re: [PyrNet-L] Pyrs in Dog Fancy Magazine

Well, I have to print a retraction about a portion of what I wrote.

<< The article reads "Great Pyrenees, like many large breeds, are prone to
hip and elbow displasia." I asked the GPCA Health Committee, and there has
never been a reported case of elbow displasia.>>

I was just informed that we did have one case of Ununited Anconel Process
(one of two kinds of elbow dysplasia) reported to the Health Committee.
This data was reported under the Section entitled "Other Skeletal" on an
online health survey. (We don't currently have a section for Elbow
Dysplasia as until recently we haven't had a case reported). So that is why
this information was overlooked.

I have since done a scan for "elbow dysplasia", "UAP" and "FCP" (the other
kind of elbow dysplasia) and have found no other cases. If we do begin to
see more reported cases of elbow dysplasis in the breed, then we'll have to
create another category specifically for this in the database and the online
form.

I apologize for any problems or confusion that this may have caused.
