This is pretty surprising considering the money they lost.
And after dateline just did a report about the airlines and
animals.  It was very much in the negative about temperature
extremes the animals suffer.  One incident of a crated dog
that had to endure 120 degrees while on the pavement waiting
to be loaded. (A temperature gauge was put inside the crate
and it was videotaped to prove how long it was out there.
The airlines were interviewed and they came back that they
"only loose about 5000 animals in a year" which they considered
to be very good numbers.  Perhaps that negative press helped
the situation.
