Re: [PyrNet-L] CHAT: Summer clip

I have made the choice never to clip or shear Albert. I like him looking
like a Pyr and the Pyrs I see that have been clipped make me feel sad. Just
like when Albert had hot spots it made me sad to not just have him suffering,
but to also lose that beautiful coat in that place. Plus their coat insulates
them against the heat. A clipped Pyr should not be kept out in the direct sun
as long. They can get sunburned, too! If Albert got really uncomfortable in
the heat I may consider clipping about a six inch strip along his belly is
all. I prefer to provide a lot of shade and romps in the water. His dad is
sheared every year and I do not like how he looks then. I personally believe
in keeping them as God intended. Realize many feel otherwise though.
Different strokes for different folks.
