Benadryl...gel, applied to the hot spot...or  syrup internally?   Can
dogs take it that way?  Seems to me that I have seen it used that way. 
How much would you give a Pyr.?  Mine tend to lick the gel right off
their leg, so maybe they are taking it internally.
