My dogs come right into my carpeted diningroom after cleaning the carpet 
every 2-3 weeks I decided to go out and buy a painters tarp. It woorks great 
I've since bought two more of them and once a week I pull up the dirty one 
and throw it into the wash. Has worked for us.
