Jen,

I give Cajun a large beef bone (femur) about 6 inches long and
cut at both ends to expose the marrow. I let her have it for
1 - 1.5 hrs day one, then bag it and put it in the refrigerator.

The next day, she gets it again, and if the marrow is eaten,
she gets to keep it. (Her toy box resembles a graveyard)   

This not only keeps her occupied, it makes her teeth sparkle.
No anesthesia, and no chemicals. You just need to find a good butcher.
