Re: [PyrNet-L] Need advice:

Deanna, dogs generally do better when they are in the room with you ( as
part of the pack ), it is easier for them to settle down knowing they are
with you and have your scent to comfort them. The book from the " Monks
Of New Skete " have a good chapter on that. I don't agree with
everything they say, but I can see where that one works. So your
comment that your Bear did better that way makes sense. They do not
recommend dogs on the bed, but I have found that to be more of a personal
thing. We have a water bed, and with the heat the dogs never stay on the
bed much longer than it takes for a night or morning cuddle. We don't
mind them there, but someone else might not want them in the bed. In
which case, crated in the room, or laying along side the bed works just
fine!

We got our Shih-Tzu from a rather nutty type at not four weeks old! She
was so itty bitty that she slept in a cat crate next to my side of the
bed, where I could slip my fingers through the gate, when she got a
little bigger she slept on a pillow in the bookcase headboard. She
sleeps anywhere on the bed now, but still likes her cubby hole! All our
dogs have always done best in the bedroom!

It is a choice everyone has to make, but I agree, it usually is easier on
the dog! Cindy.
