Re: [PyrNet-L] natural food/meat

Your right, it can be scary. I wont buy anything that is pre-frozen and shy
away from pretty much anything sold as 'pet mince' etc (have you ever smelt
that stuff?? and Jan is right, you can never be quite sure what they put in
it :-/ ). Unless I can see it first, and see that it is fresh, I won't buy
it. I have a good butcher though who has a high turnover, so I am pretty
much guaranteed that anything I get is fresh (I have a hard enough time
getting it, he sells it so quickly!). Chicken products are the ones you
want to watch, particularly in hot weather - chicken seems to go off a lot
quicker than other meats. Again the place I get my chicken from has a high
turnover (I have to order so I don't miss out) so I am pretty well
guaranteed that it is fresh - but I still take a look at it and smell it
before I leave the shop!!!!

Are their any organic butchers near you? Their meat is usually better -
they are more expensive though.

Yes Jan, meat is much better if you can raise and kill it yourself. Always
seems to taste better too. Wish I had the ability to do that now. And I
must agree with Dan that we are probably killing ourselves and our pets with
some of the stuff we consume. I am in the process of allergy testing and
'detoxification' supervised by a great medical specialist here in an effort
to sort out a whole heap of medical troubles. It is amazing how much your
health can improve just by modifying your diet. Have to believe that it is
the same for our dogs.

Can I get a little dig in here? If you want good meat, don't put quota's on
Australian Lamb!!!!!! :-D
