[PyrNet-L] Re: CHAT: France issues Pyr stamp

On 4 October, St. Francis of Assisi Day, France issued a series of stamps
in honor of the World Day for Animals. There were four stamps: two dogs and
two cats. The cats were a mixed-breed and a "chartreux." Maybe this is the
Persian?

The dogs chosen were the Brittany spaniel and the Great Pyrenees. On
October 2 and 3 animal shelters in many parts of France sold the stamps so
people could get "first day covers."

The Pyrenees and pup are shown against a green background. It is really an
attractive stamp. The stamp is for 3 francs. The dog is described as "La
Montagne des Pyrenees."
