[PyrNet-L] end of an era

Today in New Zealand Ch Roussillon Colombine passed away only 2 weeks from
her 14th Birthday. She hadn't lived with us for 8 years, she had lived with
my friend Nibs Watkins who had owned Pyrs since 1965. Colly only went there
because Nibs and her late husband Ginger couldn't stand not having a Pyr
after their last one died. Colly was the one they asked for and I took her
to them over 8 years ago. They adored her and vice versa. Ginger died and
Nibs and Colly were on their own. Imagine an 85 year old lady and her 13
year old Pyr later on. A great pair together and much admired. A brave old
lady on the phone today and we cried for our own separate reasons. Nibs for
her beloved companion, me the former owner and Breeder for what Colombine
had done for the Breed over the years. She was so beautiful with her almond
shaped black rimmed eyes and lovely head. The top winning Pyrs in this
country are Colombine's progeny. Her sons can still win BIS and Groups at
nearly nine years old. They have excellent hip scores, their children and
grandchildren and great grandchildren have great hip scores. Colombine was
the best thing that ever happened to us in our Kennels over the years but
best of all was the love and devotion she gave an elderly woman for many
years. If you would like to see some of Colly's photos and one of her and
Nibs then go to here http://www.geocities.com/Petsburgh/Zoo/1920/Colly.html
then you'll see what I mean.
