Re: [PyrNet-L] Re: command 'Come'? ?????????
AHHHhhh welcome to the wonderful world of independent selectivley deaf
LGD's.
The only way I have been able to get them back was by either going some
where else like pretending to go for a walk in the other direction, Making a
big issue of the treat i had in my pocket. Falling on ground in pretended
great pain, Let me think what other tricks have I used. By the way around
here they only work once twice if you are lucky. I have to admit mine have
not been to obedience and will normally come in their garden paddock etc.
BUT once out forget it......... this is a new world. I have chased our Mym
(rainbow bridge) so often and trapped her in so many back yards other than
ours she became an institution around the district. She could always be
caught by other people as long as they were some one she had not been caught
by before. So perfect strangers would be asked to call the runaway and she
would always go willingly. Fortunatly no one ever refused. Maremmar is
interesting. She will come most times in the paddock BUT if she detects you
are going to catch her to reprimand for barking or to put to bed forget it.
The only way so far has been a promised walk with pink lead. So there we are
at all sorts of late times having a little walk just to make sure this trick
will not fail. Should it ever come to pass that I do not put the walk in
then I suspect I will have to work out a new way. Treats of all types will
not work with this girl. She knows its a bribe.
Regards Liz (Benson, Falcor and Bella the Maremma)
