Re: [PyrNet-L] Fw: Old Show Dog Poem
In a message dated 00-01-24 10:18:39 EST, you write:

more than I can bear. How do people manage to walk their dogs one at a
time? I can't even do that! >>
October 14, 1999 was such a day. David was in California, I was getting
ready to fly out to meet him, and this was the day we had to have our oldest
horse put down. After rushing around getting that taken care of, I then had
to take 2 Pyrs to the vets for boarding while we were gone, pick up a rental
car to make the 1-way trip to Charlotte Airport. Well, I had everything
finished, and was putting my suitcase in the car, when I made the mistake of
looking toward the gate going into our pasture. Here stood Tanuki, the pyr
we were leaving at home with Maggie, the border collie, and the goats (my
Mother was coming over twice a day to feed and check on them so they weren't
going to be left there unattended). He was standing up at the gate, with the
saddest look on his face. For a moment I was half tempted to turn in the
car, cancel my flight, and call David in California and tell him he'd have to
drive back to South Carolina on his own. Needless to say, I drove the 100
miles from our house to Charlotte crying my eyes out!
