We do the same thing -- tell them to be careful, take it easy, it's icy --
like they really understand what we're talking about, and moreover, that they
really care! It was amazing how well they got around on the ice.

This morning, David and I volunteered again to take care of the co-op horses
at the stables where we have our guy. Actually it wasn't bad going -- even
went to Waffle House for breakfast. By the time we got home, however, it was
getting worse. The trees became completely covered in ice by noon. We had
more rain, but by 2:30 the rain had stopped and the sound of dripping was
from the ice melting! Haven't had any sun, but the temps are now in the
mid-30's, so some of it will come off the trees and power lines before the
temps drop again tonight.

As for the horses, they're in their stalls. Yesterday I went out around
lunch, and turned Castillan, our gelding, out in the indoor arena. I didn't
have my saddle, but I did have my helmet and his bridle, so I climbed on him
bareback and walked him around for 15 - 20 minutes. Hopefully by tomorrow,
the ice will start to go, and we'll be able to turn them out again.

We haven't had it nearly as bad as the folks in North Carolina! Some places,
like around Raleigh, had 18" of snow last weekend, and they haven't dug out
from that mess. So far our power has stayed on, so "life is good". As for
the Pyrs, well, Babe and Tanuki are in stalls of our barn keeping dry and
warm. Baron, Kes, and Zoe are in the house with us. Just had all three on
the sofa -- talk about crowded -- too bad they moved before I could get a
photo.

Bye for now, Robyn
