Hello, There is very little evidence that MS is, as a general disease,
inherited. In some instances it has been seen in families, but this is
sporadic. MS appears more frequently in certain parts of the world - this is
considered a primary factor related to the onset of the disease. DM is
related to MS in so far as the appearance of white matter lesions in the
spinal chord - the same thing that happens in brains of humans that have MS.
MS is believed to be an immune response - in the veterinary literature, DM
appears to be an immune response as well. Just to clear up some information.
