[pyrnet] Chat: Molly update

Molly went back to the Vet today for a recheck. The good news is,
she's able to walk quite a bit better but nowhere near where she
was before she hurt herself. She pooped for the first time on
Monday night, which I was relieved to see. The bad news is, she's
lost 7 lbs. in the last week. She's down to 87 lbs. from 94 lbs.
(and here I thought I was getting stronger from carrying her up
and down the steps!) Anyway, she has maybe consumed what I would
consider two full meals since last Wednesday night. The fact her
appetite is not good has the Vet worried. (feeding time has
always been the highlight of her day and she was running around
playing last Wednesday while I was making her dinner, which is
how she injured her back) Anyway, she ate almost a full meal last
night and came into the living room to beg food from my daughter,
which I hope is a sign that she will be back to her usual self,
appetite wise. She is not dehydrated so it is not loss of water
weight. If her appetite does not improve, he is concerned that
there may be something else going on with her. Perhaps a tumor on
her spine or a kidney problem. We'll wait and see how she eats
over the next few days, and then perhaps do some blood work. Her
last bloodwork was done in January of this year. If she continues
to lose weight at this rate, it won't be too long before she will
have to make that final trip to the Vet. I've gone from trying to
get weight off of her to trying to beef her up! These dogs can
sure turn your life upside down in a matter of moments, but we'll
do the best we can for the sweet old girl. I've even resorted to
giving her kibble again! (she hasn't had kibble in so long I
figure she thinks they are tiny dog cookies! <VBG>) Anyway, for
the time being she is holding her own. I did have to help her in
to the Vet's office today by supporting her rear, but when we
came out of the exam room she made a beeline for the exit door
walking all on her own! <vvbg> That's my girl!!
