Re: [pyrnet] Vacuum Cleaners
I use a Rainbow but I first use the hardfloor brush over the carpets. It's
a real workout, but pulls up the hair without clogging a roller or beater
bar/brush. Then I go back over with the carpet attachment taking care to
turn over the head watch for hair winding around the bar. I had to resort
to this after nearly killing a new Oreck. The hair winds around the roller
then builds up on the sides retarding the roller. Fortunately the smell
allerted me something was wrong and I soon discovered all this was
destroying the fan belt and the roller ends (and bearings) were searing hot.
So now I first clean with just straight suction, no rollers/bars, then go
back with either the Rainbow or Oreck but taking great pains to check
underneath several times per room. It's a pain and I'd glady dispense with
all the carpeting in favor of tile or wood.
