Re: [pyrnet] Anesthesia
We had a male Pyr that was two years old that we decided to have neutered.
Well the doctor did keep him over night and everything thing seemed to be
allright for a couple days and then he had a really bad seizure. He couldnt
walk, there was drool every where, For sometime he was completely out! Well
just having a baby I rushed him to the vet I was told this sometimes happens
(which I never did believe) I have to say he was never the same. He became
extremely aggresive to the family, became withdrawn, and his facial features
completly changed. This was extremely hard on my then 6 year old who couldnt
understand why Miles didnt want to play anymore. I had him at specialists who
gave me several different diagnosis. In the end we had to put him to sleep at
age 3. I know this could of just happened and he just didnt get to live a
long life but in my heart I think the vet had something to do with it.I now
go to another vet that does the local Pyr breeders care so I feel alot
better. Just please be careful and make sure they know about the Pyr and his
metabolism, even if the say they do keep telling them over and over. We know
have two wonderful dogs, but we still miss him. Julie
