Yes, an exam would be very helpful in this situation, as Geraldine
mentioned it could very well be cruciate ligament rather than hip.
If it is not cruciate ligament, as well as the treatments Joe
mentioned you and your vet might consider some anti-inflammatory
medications. Rimadyl is not without side effects, but others such as
Glyco-Flex, Adequan and Cosequan might help your old fella. In the
mean time try and keep him quiet until you can schedule an
appointment with your vet. Please keep us posted.
