I think this is the key, Elaine.  There is no piece of dog paraphenalia
that can't become a weapon in the wrong hands, and be used cruelly. I
agree that any training device should only be used to supplement and back
up good sound training.  Paddington reacts much the same way to a pinch or
choke collar--I think it's the jingle of the links that reminds him rather
than any pressure he feels. But I prefer not to take the chance of his
pulling the choke tight enough to do himself harm if he is really
determined about something.
