Re: [pyrnet] LGD breeds and temperament?

No experience here ( except for the Maremma in a small way ). But they
are all described as sharper reaction times. The Maremma is very
stubborn, according to my experience and the books. I suspect though it
is a matter of handling on all these breeds. The Pyr. has hand more
handling both by the country he comes from, and his life here. Some of
those dogs are treated in a more remote way, where they are
dogs...working...only. I think they will develop softer natures in time
with attentive handling. All of the breeds are described as devoted to
their humans, but the Maremma is eescribed as extra stubborn, which I did
find the one to be. With all of these breeds I think environment will
make the biggest difference! Unless all the wrong people get into them.
I've already heard some dog fighting type people discuss the Anatolians
and Ovtcharka's. Ugh, makes me shudder! Cindy
