Very true. Our next door neighbors (who are wonderful
people who will be terrific dog owners, so I am not
worried about the pup's well being) just bought a
gorgeous half Pyr/half newf 8 week old puppy. SHe
looks all Pyr though and has the double dew claws. Of
course I have been over to see her several times and
have been telling them all I know about the breed. I
took them my Paul Strang book to read.

Anyway, they keep referring to Pyrs as "Great Whites."
I am pretty sure they think that this is the breed's
name even though they know my dog Leo well and have
talked to me about him many times. Also, a good friend
of theirs came by to see their pup yesterday while I
was there. She brought her own (much loved and
wonderfully cared for) Pyr. We all got to talking
about Pyrs and barking. The friend with the adult Pyr
went on and on about how Pyrs only bark between ages 9
months and 18 months after which they ALL "grow out of
it." I just kept my mouth shut :-)
