Parts used: root and rhizome
Actions: sedative, anodyne (pain reliever), antispasmodic, carminative,
hypotensive
Affinities: Nervous system, digestive
Specific Uses: muscle spasms, pain, nervousness, anti-convulsive, curb
agression
Availability: herb and health food stores
Preparation: extract
Cautions and Coments: should not be given in large doses for long periods of
time, as it may cause stomach upset or lethargy.  May have reverse
(stimulant) efects in some subjects.
