Chrissy, If they were together you could surely tell the difference.  My
Dad was a Scot and my Mother is  Manx, funny as it sounds, I never
thought they sounded different from anyone else, when I was growing up. 
In spite of people always commenting.  Now when I see my Mother 
( once or twice a year ), I am aware of the difference.

Of course, I now notice how Canadian one of my oldest and dearest friends
sound.  Probably from living down here in Texas so long.  Born and raised
in Michigan, I didn't notice her accent back when we were kids.  Cindy
