Barb has mentioned to me ( I also have this browning off pigment in one
of my females ) that some plastics 
( bowls?) can also have an effect on pigmentation.  I do agree that
winter and less time in the sun does, pretty much the same as us humans
in that regard.  If you feed out of plastic, you may wish to try a
different bowl type?  Cindy
