Yes, I agree Robyn. If you have animals, there should be some thought
given. Unfortunately, looking at all those stranded or dead animals in
Houston, it is evident that most people don't! I can't remember which
disaster it was prior to this, but I was appalled by the number of dogs
in kennels with tops on them. They managed to keep swimming till they
were done in by the tops on their kennel runs.
My friend that does the P.B. pig rescue recently took in four that were
confiscated by the county. Seems the fellow penned four pigs in a
container with a top on it and put it down in the bottom of a pond, which
was dry. He didn't live there, seldom came out, must have figured they
were going to eat pond grass, and drink what little water was at the
bottom. Didn't seem to give a thought as to fouling what small space
they had, or what they would eat or drink beyond that point. Didn't even
come out when the rains started, much to the neighbors dismay. When they
got animal control out the pigs were swimming, and didn't have much
longer before they hit the top! He did end up loosing them, and they are
with Chris now. Doesn't even have to be a disaster. I cringe thinking
this guy is somewhere out there in the genetic breeding pool! :-(
I agree, it was good of your folks to remember Grandma too! :-) Cindy
