Hi Cindy,
Unfortunatelly, this is the "mind set " of many people---3 years ago, down
here in Florida, there were some major wildfires in the Palm Coast area--many
evacuations were necessary, (in fact, I had people come up to my home to
"ride it out")--
Since all telephone calls into the area were restricted, the people that were
evacuated had NO idea if they even had a home to return to ---
The firefighters were tremendous, and went out of their way to keep fires
away from some of the homes, (fighting the fires all the way to 2 ft. from
some of the homes)
After the fires were "conquered"--the Humane Societies and other agencies
moved into the area, even before the owners were allowed to return to their
homes, (or the ashes of their homes)---
Keep in mind, Not 1 Human life was lost !-----however, outside, in over 1/4
of the yards surrounding the homes, were animals that had been tied to keep
them from leaving the yard ! These animals never had a chance ! I still can't
get the picture out of my mind of a dog, standing, watching the fire inch up
towards it, and it can't get away!!! (and this was a rather "affluent" area
of the country, so a little Money does not mean that the "mind set" will be
different!!)
