Re: [pyrnet] Re: pyrnet-l-digest.20010613
Pam, once upon a time I used to think that if people were made to pay
more for an animal, then they would value it more. If not for the life
itself, then for the dollar investment. Boy, did I learn fast that it
made no difference. $1,000. dogs had no better chance than $50.00 ones
had. Between the values and the attitude
( we are superior so nothing else matters ), it is amazing the amount of
horror that the human race can inflict. I've gotten so I love the
statement " Humans aren't the only species on the planet...we just act
like it"!
I don't know how compassionate humans even hold up against the horror of
what they find. No wonder the turn
over rate is so high in rescue! Your description of what was found after
the fires paints a horrible mental picture. Once again, if you could tie
a dog in the yard, why couldn't you take it with you? Not one "object"
in a house should be more important than another living being, what are
we doing that we are not teaching that and passing that on?
Too few of us actually get the point, I guess. I'm sorry that you have
to live with that in your mind, obviously the people who left them are
not suffering that thought, years later! Cindy
