Newman's skin looks like he's part Appaloosa. The roof of his mouth is VERY
spotted, his tummy is spotted, as are the pads of his feet...and he has the
 CUTEST itty bitty spots just above his nose. :-)




I even thin the black nails are a good sign of strong color genetically.  We
want good very black color on eye rims, nose, and lips.  These other places
are felt to be further indicator of good color especially the roof of the
mouth as you see it referred to in the literature as a good sign by the
mountain shepherds and old time breeders who bred the dog for generations in
their home and farm in France.
