It is not abnormal.  Some Color or even a lot of color in the mouth is fine. 
Look in the roof of the mouth.  If you are lucky it will be very black.

Joe, why do you say, "If you are lucky..."? Is this a good thing? <grin> Newman's skin looks like he's part Appaloosa. The roof of his mouth is VERY spotted, his tummy is spotted, as are the pads of his feet...and he has the  CUTEST itty bitty spots just above his nose. :-)


We went through pure hell trying to trim Gus'
nails (especially the dew claws).  Patience
patience patience.  He now lets us touch his nails
without pulling away.  I think his previous owners
were a little rough on him!

A friend told me to take every opportunity just to sit and hold his feet...not doing anything to them, but just holding them and rewarding him when he didn't try to pull away. I'll try that between now and the next time he's due for a trim.

ROFL!  Love it!  But sometimes I think I'd be more likely to bite someone than Newman. He's such a love.
