Yes, they can get it, as Barb said.
Also, be very careful that you don't catch it as well!
It is very contagious and you have to be diligent about washing your hands after treatment so you don't spread it to other dogs or yourself or family.
I had an OE Sheepdog with it years ago and caught it myself - that's how I know!
Treatment consisted of keeping the area clean and adding antibiotic drops.
