RE: [pyrnet] Re: pyrnet-l-digest.20010914

Hi,
I am on lunch time.
Yes, Conjunctivitis (Pink eye) can happen in any animal including dogs. With Pyrenees it is easier to detect due to their larger eyes, and the whites of the eyes are easier to see an inflammation. There is usually some type of discharge...most generally green in color, and green is an indicator that there might be some kind of infection. At least that is what our Vet told us when Emmett was diagnosed as having conjunctivitis. It can spread to other animals in the home, and to people. So we were careful to wash after giving ointment. The ointment prescribed seemed to take forever to clear it up, but it finally did. Emmett also got a antibiotic shot at the time of diagnosis. Emmett was so uncomfortable, and it came on so quick. And at first I thought it was allergies, but then the brown discharge became green, and he started rubbing his face up against things. If you think that your Pyr may have Conjunc...have it checked out.
Here is the ointment they prescribed...
... but I hope there are other treatments/medicine that could work more quickly, and I would love to know of them. Has anyone used any other treatments/medicines, for conjunctivitis?

Have a good day! Hope the info helps.
Mer& the lost boys
